Older, or big kilometres
There is no year cut-off and no kilometre line here, because we do not run one. Age and kilometres change what the next dealer pays, so they change the number — they do not decide it for us before anybody has looked.
What we buy
We do not buy every car. That is the point of us.
Most buying services have to take almost anything to keep their numbers up, and you can hear it in the price and feel it in the way they deal with you. We get to be choosy — so the cars we do want, we want properly, and the ones we cannot use you hear about today rather than next week.

How we decide, in two short rules
Every car gets looked at
We do not publish a minimum year, a kilometre ceiling or a service-history rule, because we do not work to one. What a car is worth to the dealer who buys it next depends on the car, not on a cut-off — so age, kilometres and books move the number rather than close the door.
Every state. We come to the car.
Every state, across the cities and the regional centres. If the car is somewhere genuinely remote, say so on the call and we will work out how we get to it — that is a conversation, not a no. You do not drive to a yard, take a day off, or meet us halfway. The car stays where it is until it is sold.
This page is versioned on purpose. When it changes, the version changes with it, so an enquiry can always be measured against what was published on the day it was sent — not against whatever we happen to be doing later.
Outside the box
The ones people expect us to say no to
Send it through whatever it is. Some cars we buy and some we cannot use, and you hear which today, from a person, with the reason attached.
No service history
It does not rule a car out. It changes what the next dealer will pay for it, so it changes what we can. Much better said now than found in the glovebox at your place.
Written off, or repaired
A recorded write-off is a far smaller market and occasionally no market at all. We will tell you which, quickly. Do mention it up front — the PPSR shows it either way, and knowing early keeps the estimate honest.
A long way from anywhere
Plenty of the cars we buy are nowhere near a capital city, and a country postcode is not a strike against it. If yours is properly out there, mention it on the call — the question is how we get to it, not whether we want it.
